A man suffered serious arm and leg injuries after being struck by a Metro-North train early Saturday morning, officials said. The man was struck at 12:46 a.m. near the Catherine Street Metro-North Railroad crossing, said Kayla Shults, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transit Authority. Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott said “the man was found lying alongside the tracks with serious injuries to his right arm and right leg. He was semi-conscious when firefighters and paramedics placed him into the ambulance for transport to Norwalk Hospital.” Prescott said the crossing gates were down at the time of the accident. Shults said “no criminality is suspected.” Prescott said MTA police questioned the train engineer and the few passengers on the train. He said MTA police also went to the hospital to question the man.
