Firefighters may have prevented a potential forest fire over the weekend. Emergency personnel were called to Aramon Circle at 8:12 p.m. Saturday, for a report of heavy smoke in the area. The caller who reported the smoke said they could not see fire, but could “smell it,” according to dispatch reports. “I’ve definitely got something burning,” a firefighter said at 8:26 p.m. “We’re still trying to locate it, but there’s a heavy haze of smoke all over Aramon Circle.” With the location of the smoke source unknown, firefighters checked houses then headed into the woods to find it. Shortly around 8:35 p.m., firefighters found what appeared to be an abandoned campfire near the woods, close to Beechwood Circle, according to dispatch reports. The fire was extinguished with water cans, and pike poles were used to make sure no embers were left smoldering.
