A stretch of Interstate 95 south was closed for more than three hours Wednesday morning after a crash involving several tractor-trailer trucks. First responders were dispatched to I-95 south near Exit 27A for a reported crash involving a tractor-trailer that rolled over shortly before 5 a.m., according to the city’s fire department. Fire officials said the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was contacted to respond on a possible saddle tank rupture. Traffic was backed up at least six miles to Exit 34 on the southbound side. As cars slowed to take a look at the crash site, traffic delays built up through the area in the northbound lanes as well. Crews had the overturned tractor-trailer upright by about 8 a.m. Equipment was brought in to clear the debris that spilled from the truck when it rolled on its side. By 8:30 a.m., all first responders had cleared from the scene and the highway’s northbound lanes reopened to motorists.
