PHOTOS: Monday marked 36 years since the deadly explosion at the River Restaurant on Main Street that killed six people and injured many others. Around 4 p.m. on Dec. 6, 1985, Derby police received a call about an explosion at the restaurant. Police units and fire crews were dispatched and found a four-story brick building had exploded and three of the floors collapsed into the basement of the structure, fire officials recalled in a Facebook post on Monday. At least 10 people were rescued from the building in the minutes after first responders arrived on scene. Fire officials said at least six more people were reported to be trapped inside.
