A fire at a Bridgeport power plant sent a firefighter to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to a city official.
The Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a call around 2:12 p.m. about a fire on the second floor of the Wheelabrator Bridgeport Resco Trash to Power plant on Howard Avenue, according to Scott Appleby, the director of emergency communications for Bridgeport.
The fire department saw fires in two hoppers and attacked the fire from the inside by opening inspection holes to extinguish, Appleby said.
One firefighter was possibly burned during the incident and was taken to the hospital, Appleby said.
The fire is under investigation, Appleby said.
