A fire at a Monroe home Tuesday morning caused several thousands of dollars in damage, according to the town’s fire marshal. William B. Davin said fire crews responded to a reported structure fire at a Greenwood Lane home around 6:30 a.m. Sixteen firefighters responded to the scene. Arriving units found flames in the electrical panel in the basement of the single-family home, Davin said. The damage caused by the fire was confined to the electrical panel. Firefighters cleared a minor smoke condition on the lower level of the home as other crews checked for extension and secured the property until Eversource personnel could arrive to check on the panel. Davin estimated the fire caused about $7,500 in damage. He said the home remains inhabitable.
