A new fire marshal was sworn in this week, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience with the Westport Fire Department.
Terrance Dunn is the new fire marshal. He replaces Nathaniel Gibbons who retired Tuesday, the fire department announced.
“Coming from a family with a history in public safety, I’m really looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of the Town of Westport in my new role as fire marshal,” Dunn said in a statement.
Dunn was hired as a Westport firefighter in October 2003 and was promoted to fire inspector in 2009.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in arson investigation from the University of New Haven where he also minored in criminal justice. He is also certified by the state to be a fire marshal and licensed as an assistant building official.
