The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series takes us back to the early 1960s. The Service 47 brush truck at the Tolland Fire Department was a 1947 Dodge Power Wagon. It is shown driving down past the Hicks School (which is currently the town hall) on Old Post Road in June of 1963. Service 47 was built by firefighters in the late 1950s with a 150-gallon water tank, a 10-gallon-per-minute pump, and forestry equipment. It served Tolland until 1973 when the Union Fire Department purchased the truck.
