Part of a Connecticut highway was shut down Wednesday morning after officials said a truck carrying pesticides and possibly “flammable substances” experienced a leak.
Both sides of Interstate 84 were shut down near the Farmington-West Hartford border for about two hours, starting around 7 a.m. By around 9 a.m., the eastbound side and two westbound lanes were reopened, officials said.
“Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle transporting pesticide and other possible flammable substances is experiencing a leak,” Trooper First Class Pedro A. Muñiz, a state police spokesperson, said in an email.
Muñiz said state police, the DOT, local firefighters and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene.
