Fire officials fought a 2-alarm blaze in a home on Gilbert Street in West Haven Tuesday morning.
The fire erupted at about 6 a.m., according to a neighbor on the scene, and was based on the third floor of the home.
Once at the scene, fire officials helped evacuate the residents of the building. No official source has confirmed how many people were evacuated at this time.
However, West Haven Fire Chief Michael Terenzio confirmed that one resident was trapped in the building, and responding crews assisted them out. That person is recovering, the chief said.
There are no major injuries reported from the scene at this time.
Terenzio also noted that a possible party took place on the third floor of the building the night before, and lasted until the early hours of Tuesday morning.
