The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a fire in a vacant house in Hockessin on Thursday morning, August 15, 2019. Firefighters were called out just after 8 a.m. to Blackbird Drive in the Westwoods development off of Mendenhall Mill Road. Arriving Hockessin firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home in the kitchen area. They had the flames knocked down in twenty minutes. Fire officials say since the house was vacant it was easier for them to navigate through the home to get to the seat of the fire. No one was hurt.
