Don't look, but if you're in a room right now do you know if the door opens in or opens out? Are the hinges on the inside or the outside? Knowing the answers to those questions could save your life. Detective Tim Kerstetter of the Delaware State Police, and Dr. Ray Carr and Scott Duffey from Wilmington University's Criminal Justice Institute, are on a crusade to try and train as many people as possible about active shooter safety. All three men were interviewed for a three-part radio series on active shooter events, safety and preparedness. Kerstetter sat down with WDEL to discuss the myriad of issues surrounding a possible active shooter event including prevention and preparedness training for both the public and police, as well as how social media plays into an unfolding situation.
