One person was injured in a single car crash on Thompsons Bridge Road around lunchtime Thursday. Talleyville firefighters and New Castle County paramedics treated a man for non-life threatening injuries. The crash occurred on a hill just north of Brandywine Creek in the northbound lane which had become crusted over with a two-inch layer of ice on the coldest day of winter thus far, January 31, 2019. A resident of the area who checked on the driver after the crash said the roadway had become 'a sheet of ice' as a result of melting snow runoff. Delaware troopers shut the road down until the Delaware Department of Transportation could plow and salt the roadway.
