An early Thursday morning house fire in Sussex County left a mobile home severely damaged. No injuries were reported.
The home off Route 1 in the Colonial East development was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after midnight.
Fire crews said it broke out near the back bedroom but the owner was not home at the time. The Lewes Fire Department said the cold weather made fighting the fire a challenge.
"It was cold and it was windy. It didn't affect our ability. However, there's a lot of water on the ground, which turned to ice, and firemen were slipping and sliding... but nobody fell down and got hurt," Lewes Assistant Fire Chief Bill Henry Buckaloo said.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire. Several other departments in Sussex County helped put the fire out.
