A Christiana Fire Company truck, responding to a fire in Bear, was struck by a pickup Monday afternoon.
No injuries were reported, according to state police.
The crash occurred about 12:35 p.m. as the ladder truck carrying five firefighters was southbound on Del. 7, crossing U.S. 40. The ladder truck had its lights and sirens on as it crossed against the red light, said Mater Cpl. Michael Austin, a state police spokesman.
The truck, the second of three emergency vehicles crossing the intersection, cleared the westbound lanes of U.S. 40, but as it entered the eastbound lanes it was hit on its right side by a 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup, driven by a 22-year-old New Castle man.
The crash prevented the ladder truck from responding to a structure fire in the 600 block of Old Porter Road in Bear.
