A home in Wilmington's East Side was deemed uninhabitable following an early morning fire Monday, according to officials with the Wilmington Fire Department. Authorities said firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of North Spruce Street around 1:45 a.m. on January 6, 2020, and discovered smoke showing on the first floor of a two-story house. The fire was contained to the room of origin, and a search of the home showed no one was present. There were no reported injuries to either firefighters or civilians. The house was found to have sustained moderate fire and significant smoke damage, and an adjoining dwelling also sustained smoke damage.
