Mike Moriarty entered a house on fire Monday morning wearing his typical firefighting gear. But that entry was made while temperatures were already in the 90s on a day when Kent County was under an excessive heat advisory. "Our first priority in that situation is life safety," said Moriarty, a firefighter with the Camden Wyoming Fire Company who posted body camera footage of the entry into the home to the organization's Facebook page. For first responders, excessive heat adds another level of difficulty in jobs that often require significant physical exertion. Kent County Public Safety Chief Colin Faulkner said paramedics and other medical professionals have to be mindful of hydration and other factors as they go on calls to help people with medical emergencies.
