Indian River Firefighters Respond to HVAC Fire in Millsboro

On Saturday, May 23rd, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Joanne Drive in the Mariner’s Cove development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to have a smoke condition coming from the structure and under the middle section of the residential structure. Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80, Rescue 80 and Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engines #80-3, #80-1, and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional alerts included the local emergency medical services provider, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Fire Marshal. Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression in the crawl space of the residential structure, identify and determine the source of the incident, evaluate for fire extension, positive pressure ventilation, and notification of utility service providers for disconnection of services.
