A candle is to blame for a fire that damaged a New Castle-area house to the tune of roughly $10,000.00.
The fire was reported just after 6:30 Saturday morning in a house on Lanford Road in Kingston Court, Delaware State Fire Marshal's investigators said.
When firefighters got there, they found flames burning on the second floor.
A candle in a bedroom had ignited some nearby flammable materials.
Smoke detectors in the house functioned properly, and no one was hurt.
