With the American flag at the Cheer Center at half staff, folks from all over Delmarva came out to enjoy classic cars while also remembering the September 11th terror attacks that shook our nation twenty years ago.
Michael McCoy worked at Dover Air Force Base on 9/11. McCoy says he does not think the average American realizes the important sacrifice the military and first responders made on that day.
"I was in the Squadron at the time, we saw the first plane hit. I'm a civilian pilot as well and they came and got me for some reason. Hey Mike, Hey Mike, an airplane hit the towers, an airplane hit the World Trade Center," McCoy said.
"So we sat there and watched it, that's not some little 172, something major. And then we saw the second one hit," he continued.
Alex Wilkurson of the Gumboro Fire Department was three years old on 9/11.
