A woman accused of throwing a firework, which then sparked flames that injured a child and destroyed a mobile home, is facing multiple charges, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the fire happened Halloween night as Tiffany Harrod, 36, was handling fireworks in a way that caused a vehicle to catch fire. The blaze then spread to a nearby mobile home.
When first responders arrived, they said two children in Harrod’s care were naked except for towels covering their bodies and one boy was suffering from a severe burn to his hand.
It’s unclear if Harrod is the boy’s mother.
The boy was taken to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children as a trauma alert to be treated for burns to his hand and arm while the woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
A family member says the boy lost three fingers as a result of his injuries.
