Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Don Bishop Road at about 2 p.m. “Although the interior of the structure sustained heavy fire/smoke damages, SWFD crews were able to reach the fire and prevent it from severely impacting the exterior and the attached home addition,” the SWFD said. An investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an unattended pot on a stove. It quickly spread from the kitchen to other areas of the home, burning its way to the second floor, SWFD said.
The district added that while no one was injured, the fire caused more than $100,000 in damage.
