Florida not tracking the number of medical professionals, first responders who test positive for COVID-19

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Florida, medical professionals and first responders are fighting a battle that increasingly seems impossible for them not to fall victim to. But just how many medical workers have tested positive for the virus in our state, no one knows. Investigative Reporter Katie LaGrone explains why. As medical workers across Florida continue to battle the spread of COVID-19, an unknown number of health workers here are falling ill to the virus. Turns out, while state leaders have publicly acknowledged the risk health workers and first responders are taking on the frontlines, Florida isn’t tracking how many of these critical workers are contracting the illness.
