For nearly 20 years, Wayne Johnson has served as a firefighter with Baldwin County Fire Rescue. And now he’s giving of himself in another big way, too. Johnson is the new director of the Baldwin County Emergency Management Services. In his new role, Johnson oversees various types of emergency situations and severe weather alerts for the city and county. Johnson became the new EMA director at the end of January, replacing Troy Reynolds, who served in that position and as county fire chief. Even though the position is relatively new to Johnson, it’s not work that is completely new to him. “The previous EMA director, Troy Reynolds, actually had me moved into EMA back in 2016,” Johnson said, noting he had previously served as a support technician under Reynolds.
