Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services says that two juveniles are charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a vacant building at the Tara Woods apartment complex Oct. 30. According to Battalion Chief Laura Richardson, “Bystanders reported information to fire investigators relating to suspicious activity involving two juveniles that were seen at the complex just before the fire started. A joint investigation by the Clayton County Fire Marshal’s Office and Clayton County Police determined that the two juvenile suspects in question were in fact linked to the fire and will face charges. The juveniles were released to their family members and will follow up with Juvenile Court.” Richardson said that 36 Clayton County firefighters turned out to battle the two-alarm blaze, which was declared out in just under an hour. The Clayton News was on scene as firefighters kept the fire from spreading to a second vacant building, trees, and occupied buildings in the complex.
