Things got blazing hot in Lee County as the fire and emergency service units suited up for a live burn training. The training took place at the new three story training facility commissioners approved and used SPLOST money for. Firemen from all five stations participated in a search and rescue structure fire exercise as if it were a home. Crews practiced looking for victims in the heat of the moment and later brought them out. Assistant Fire Chief Coleman Williams said every day since the facility opened in December, they’ve been holding training sessions for staff to prepare for emergencies more quickly.
