At 11:54 p.m., Thursday, Savannah Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire at 647 Hamilton Court. Engine 8 arrived on scene within three minutes at 11:57 p.m. and discovered a home fully engulfed in flames. The resident escaped unharmed on his own. He said he was using a space heater at the time of the fire. Firefighters attacked the blaze, preventing it from spreading to neighboring homes. However, the damage was extensive and the resident was displaced. Red Cross provided him with assistance. Savannah Fire Rescue investigators are working to determine if a space heater is the likely cause of the fire.
