A Habersham County man has been charged for allegedly setting fire to a home on July 2.
30-year-old, John Barnette Edmonds, of Cornelia, Georgia is charged with 1st Degree Arson, according to a release.
Reports say the incident happened at a single-story home located on Slayton Street in Cornelia, Georgia. The wood-frame home was around 80 years old and 1,000 square feet when the home caught on fire, according to the report.
The home suffered very mild damage to the front steps of the home.
Edmonds was already in custody for unrelated charges at the time the arson charge was filed. He is currently being held at Habersham County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, according to the release.
