It's baby animal season in Middle Georgia, and a recent fox pup rescue in Crisp County shows that it's important to properly rescue animals when faced with dangerous situations in their natural habitats. Firefighters with Engine 31 responded to a wildfire on May 21, where firefighter Shawn McNulty rescued the pup. Firefighters made sure the pup was taken to a veterinarian's office, which will reintroduce the fox back into its own habitat when it fully recovers. There have been multiple animal encounters in Middle Georgia as the weather warms up. Deputies in Bibb County have rescued an owl and a rattlesnake this month. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources also wants to remind the community that warm weather marks the start of snake season. Check here for tips on how to handle snakes.
