Two families were able to make it out of their homes safely after twin fires in Valdosta Wednesday morning. The first call came in around 2:40 a.m. about a fire on Oakdale Drive. The fire was extinguished quickly and two dogs were rescued by fire personnel on scene. The second fire was called in around 5:15 a.m. on Bemiss Road. 16 Firefighters were able to put the flames out quickly after arriving. Five people were displaced by the Oakdale Drive fire while two were displaced by the Bemiss Road fire.
