A fire investigator with the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's Office has determined that a fire in Banks County on Saturday afternoon, September 28, was intentionally set.
The fire occurred at about 4 p.m., on a deck behind a home in the 5300 block of Yonah Homer Road in Alto, Ga.
"The fire was set to a wooden deck surrounding a fire pit," said state Safety Fire Commissioner John King. "Thankfully the deck is not connected to the house on the property. The deck suffered major damages from the fire."
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the blaze. The Banks County Fire and Emergency Services Department is assisting with the investigation of the blaze.
