The Athens Clarke County Fire Department reported it has crews putting out a fire on the University of Georgia campus. The fire department sent a tweet out at about 9:45 p.m., stating it was working to put out a fire at the Tate Student Center. UGA also sent a tweet out, writing police had got a report of a small fire at the facility at around 9 p.m. and that firefighters put it out quickly. The Tate Student Center is described as “the living room of the UGA campus, providing UGA students with meeting spaces, dining, entertainment and much more,” on UGA’s website. UGA reported the damage from the fire was limited, and no one was injured. The school announced Saturday morning the Tate Center would be closed for the weekend.
