Three people were displaced and one person was injured with second-degree burns following a stove fire Tuesday night in Savannah.
According to the Savannah Fire Department, fire crews were called to the 900 block of West 38th Street at 7:49 p.m. Firefighters said they found an injured person outside a fully-involved house. According to the SFD, the person reportedly walked away from food that was cooking on the stove to find the kitchen on fire. Firefighters said the person was taken to a hospital in the Savannah area for treatment. The blaze caused extensive smoke and fire damage throughout the house, fire crews said.
The Savannah Fire Department reminds the community to always set timers while cooking and to never leave food on the stove unattended. If you have to leave the room, don't forget to turn the burners off.
