Albany Fire Department responds to downtown fire

PHOTO: The Albany Fire Department (AFD) responded to a structure fire in downtown Albany Friday afternoon. According to AFD, the fire was at the old Steve’s Auto Trim Shop on north Washington Street, just behind the courthouse. E-911 Dispatch said they received the call just before 4 p.m. Fire officials said one issue was the number of tires, auto parts and different kinds of lubricants inside the former auto shop. The firefighters used their aerial truck to pour water inside the building to knock out the flames. According to AFD, It took firefighters three hours to extinguish all of the flames. Officials said no one was injured.
