The Camilla Fire Department received a $4,000 grant from local railroad provider OmniTrax. Which is the parent company of Georgia & Florida Railway. The grant, from OmniTrax’s Safe Shipper Awards program, rewards shipping partners and public safety teams they work with to keep their rails safe. Georgia & Florida Railway Operations Manager Gene Renner says, “I have been working with the Camilla Fire Department over the years from incident management planning to incidents at grade crossings. Chief Sullivan and team members of the Camilla Fire Department will respond and assist in protecting the public and keep our railroad family safe.” The Camilla Fire Department will use the funds to update rescue equipment carried on the fire apparatus.
