Fire chiefs gather for annual training forum in Guam

The 8th Annual Western Pacific Islands Association of Fire Chiefs Training Forum kicked off today. Fire Chiefs Gary Ludwig and Jeff Tucker are on island as part of the forum. Chief Ludwig is President of the International Associations of Fire Chiefs and has over four decades of experience in fire, EMS, and rescue. He currently is the Fire Chief in Champaign, Illinois. "The fire service is what we call all hazards so we handle everything. When we talk, we're going to talk about, you name it- fire suppression, EMS, HAZMAT, to emergency management, to the cancers that impacting our firefighters and cardiovascular disease...there's a whole range of issues that we are here to discuss and see what we can do about helping each other out," he said. The two-day forum is being held at the Lotte Hotel and is being attended by fire and emergency personnel from local, federal, and military agencies.
