Two men were seriously injured Monday when an exterior wall on the second floor of a Kalihi walk-up gave way, sending them tumbling to the ground below.
The men were apparently leaning on a concrete railing at the apartment building when it gave way, and they fell 10 to 12 feet to the ground.
Paramedics said an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old were taken to a hospital in serious condition after the incident.
The incident happened about 4:12 p.m. at a building at 766 Puuhale Rd.
Witnesses said both men were bloodied by the fall and big chunks of concrete debris, which rained down on them after they fell.
They were apparently leaning on a concrete railing in an open lanai area at the apartment complex.
"They were on the second floor and talking ... when the railing just came down," said Tarno Mazawa, who lives on the first floor.
