A brush fire in Hawaii Kai is still being monitored at the top of Mariner's Ridge that began Saturday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the scene at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. They had to call for a helicopter to drop water from the air because it is in a steep area that is isolated. Ten fire units and twenty-one personnel responded to the wildfire blaze in the back of Kamilo Nui Valley Saturday afternoon. The Honolulu Fire Department says it got the fire under control just before 9 p.m. but it's still not out. HFD wants Hawaii Kai residents to know if they see flames or smell smoke, not to worry. According to HFD no homes in the area are in danger due to the brush fire occurring in an isolated area.
