Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a two-alarm blaze that ripped through an Aiea home on Friday night. The fire started just before 8 p.m. at a home on Kaulainahee Place behind Aiea Intermediate School. A man was home when the fire started, and told a neighbor that it was apparently sparked when his television exploded. The victim escaped unharmed. Some 35 firefighters responded to the single-family home fire, and when they arrived the home was already fully engulfed in flames. The flames were brought under control by 8:41 p.m. The residence had working smoke alarms. One other occupant of the home was not there when the fire started. The American Red Cross of Hawaii is assisting the family. Neighbor Ken Chong said before the firefighters got there he heard a “really loud explosion" in the home.
