Honolulu Fire Department investigators were unable to determine the cause of a two-alarm fire that broke out Thursday at the Chateau Waikiki condominium at 411 Hobron Lane, according to Capt. Scot Seguirant. Firefighters and paramedics treated a number of people who had difficulty breathing or were exhausted from evacuating the building, Seguirant said. One woman was taken to an area hospital. Fire investigators lacked specific evidence to determine the cause of the blaze, he said. The first of 11 HFD units arrived at 4:46 p.m. Firefighters saw black smoke and flames coming from a window on the 25th floor of the 39-story condo. In all, 43 HFD personnel responded. The fire was located in unit 2509 and extinguished at 5:57 p.m. A man lived in the unit but was out of the country at the time. Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the unit and $10,000 to its contents.
