The Maui County Department of Fire & Public Safety has suspended its search for missing hiker Amanda Eller at 11:40 a.m. Sunday.
According to officials, the Maui Fire Department personnel on foot and by air continued to search for Eller until this point.
The Department assists the Maui Police Department for 72 hours for a missing person’s case and will continue to work with the Maui Police Department and assist with future searching if new information is discovered.
Family members of Eller arrived on Maui, Sunday. They began searching for her shortly after arriving to the island.
"We really believe that she's in the forest... and I hope she is, but if someone has taken her... we're not interested in you, we just want our daughter back," says Julia, Amanda's mother.
Friends and family also urge the public to report any information about Eller's disappearance.
