Two men were critically injured Friday after sustaining severe burns in a large blaze at a warehouse at Campbell Industrial Park warehouse.
The fire at Green Auto Recycling on Hanua Street, which sent thick, black plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles, started about 3 p.m. and was brought under control by 3:45 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, multiple cars were on fire inside the open air warehouse. A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said six units with 19 firefighters worked to fight the flames.
Firefighters declared the fire extinguished at 5 p.m.
The two injured men were taken to the hospital with severe, second-degree burns.
