A grounded sailboat freed itself from an area near rocks at Hale O Lono Harbor on Molokai and was taken into the harbor channel area Tuesday to be anchored overnight, the Maui Fire Department reported. Hoolehua firefighters and the Coast Guard responded to the 7 p.m. report that the boat was grounded near rocks on the east breakwall of the harbor. A Coast Guard helicopter was on scene when firefighters arrived and found the 36-foot vessel with its keel grounded next to the breakwall, the Fire Department reported. The boat freed itself and was taken into the channel, according to the Fire Department. A 51-year-old Oahu man and a woman aboard the boat didn’t need medical attention. Initial reports indicated there was no apparent fuel or oil leaking, and the vessel’s hull wasn’t damaged, the Fire Department reported.
