Mayor Michael Victorino did not say any first responders on Lanai have tested positive for COVID-19 in his Monday press conference, but said should there be an outbreak, Maui County could supply reinforcements.
"If first responders start testing positive we would send over first responders to take their place and quarantine those that have tested positive," said Victorino.
On the law enforcement side, Lanai has one police station and seven officers currently stationed there, according to Victorino. The Maui Police Department has reported at least ten positive cases of COVID-19 since August 27 on the Valley Isle.
"If need be we’d have to stretch our forces very thin but we’d send over additional help for that also," added Victorino.
