Damage from 2-alarm house fire in Mililani estimated at $170,000

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at a home in Mililani Friday evening. Officials said the blaze started at around 6:15 p.m. on Lewanuu Street. Crews said smoke and flames were visible at the rear of the single-story house. The fire caused significant damage to the roof of the house, impacting a family of two who lives at the residence. The residents were not home during the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 6:40 p.m. Volunteers with the American Red Cross also responded to provide food, shelter and clothing to the residents. HFD said the estimated costs of damages is $160,000 to the property and $10,000 to the contents of the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
