A Makawao resident captured incredible video of the moment a lightning strike went through a tree in his own front yard on Thursday morning. He set up his tripod and iPhone outside to capture audio of an intense thunderstorm he believed was moving closer. The lightning strike happened minutes after he walked back inside. It damaged the water pipes underneath his home which soaked parts of his garage, also knocking out his internet and power. He's been told repairs to his water pipes alone could cost him $12,000 if his insurance doesn't cover the damages.
