Three people are safe after a house went up in flames in Kapahulu Thursday afternoon.
Nearly four dozen firefighters responded to the house fire at 3030 Monsarrat Avenue just before noon.
Crews quickly attacked the fire and had it under control in about 15 minutes.
"It's amazing, like 300 barbecues together," said Pasquale Allegrini, a witness. "It's very hot, it's very hot. I saw the people with the dog, people very scared, it's very fast." The American Red Cross is assisting the five people and two dogs displaced.
HFD says the fire started in an upstairs bedroom but the cause still under investigation.
Damage to the property is estimated at $390,000.
