The Honolulu Fire Department rescued two lost hikers on Lulumahu Falls Trail and another on Lanikai Pillbox Trail over Father’s Day weekend.
The fire department was notified of the Lulumahu Falls Trail hikers at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
The rescue team hiked up the trail and located the hikers, a man and a woman.
The couple was not found to be injured, but did report being lost. They hiked down with the guidance of HFD. On Sunday, a 9-1-1 call for a hiker in distress came in at about 10:16 a.m. According to the caller, she and a 40-year-old man had been hiking for about an hour when the man injured his ankle.
HFD made contact with the injured hikers at around 10:35 a.m. and rescuers splinted the man’s right ank;e before placing him onto a stretcher and carrying him to an extraction point where he could be airlifted to a landing zone.
