North Kohala officers responded to a small airplane that made an emergency hard landing south of Upolu Airport on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024. The officers responded to the Big Island Gravity Skydiving plane at 10:59 a.m. The pilot landed in a pasture south of the airport in Hawi. The hard landing was caused by an engine failure, which happened at around 300 feet in the air. There were no passengers onboard.
