Firefighters responded to a residential fire in rural Brayton this morning. The fire was reported after 8:00 a.m. at 3144 Goldfinch Place. Brayton Fire Chief Tom McGovern said the upstairs of the home sustained damage. “There was a lot of smoke coming from the roof, looks like it’s up in the attic.” The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Brayton Fire Department was assisted by the Exira Fire Department, Atlantic Fire Department, and the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office.
